Дворец XVIII века в сердце Haro

Origins

An 18th Century Palace in the Heart of Haro

In the historic center of Haro, the historic wine capital of La Rioja, stands Palacio Manzanos, an elegant 18th-century manor house that for centuries was known as the Palacio de Tejada.

Built in 1733, at a time when Haro was experiencing great economic prosperity thanks to agricultural trade and the birth of its prestigious wine culture, the palace represents one of the finest examples of noble civil architecture in the region.

Today, carefully restored, the palace revives as a space where history, the art of living and wine culture come together.

Architecture

A Palace of Nobility and Architecture

The architecture of the former Palacio de Tejada reflects the refinement of the urban Riojan aristocracy of the 18th century.

Its imposing ashlar stone facade is organized in three levels marked by classical cornices, crowned by a majestic heraldic shield dated 1733, symbol of the lineage of its first owners.

Characteristic architectural elements:

  • Windows with baroque pediments and ornamental details
  • Decorative niches that bring elegance to the noble floor
  • An architectural balance combining late baroque and early neoclassical influences
  • Harmonious proportions typical of urban palaces of the era

Legacy

Three Centuries of Living History

Throughout its history, the palace has had various uses that reflect the evolution of the city.

During the 19th century, part of the building housed the Post and Telegraph office, becoming a key communication center in the daily life of Haro.

Over time, the palace maintained its stately character until it was restored in the 20th century, preserving its heritage value and returning the building to its original splendor.
